Description
This is a 17-18th century, forged, chiseled, engraved and punched wrought iron work in the form of a charming dog with large ears and a grooved collar. The body is punched with small curved markings  to simulate the hair. The mounting rod inserts through a molded opening at the top of the door knocker and passes through a beautiful pierced backplate which has floral motifs. This friendly little one does't bite and now, after so many years it is looking for a new home.This door knocker is found in the book: Striking Figures, Figurative Door Knockers from the Renaissance to the Twentieth Century.pp.50 and 124Length: 6 inches
