Description
An antique Qing (Ming?) Dynasty wooden Chinese scroll box with raised old Chinese script writing of a poem by Li Bai titled " Quiet Night Thoughts".Li Bai
lived during China’s golden age of poetry. He traveled widely and met many scholars and even briefly became an official poet for the emperor.
Li Bai’s poems are widely recited in China. Even today, children as young as 3 years old learn to say them.
To find something similar to this you would have to search auction houses like Christie's or Sotheby's. On the bottom of the scroll box, there is a Jian ding wax seal. This seal is placed on items that are being brought from China to the US. The scroll box measures 27" in length, 5" in width, and 3" in height. This is a great opportunity to acquire a unique piece of Chinese history to add to an existing collection or start a new collection. Good luck.

English Translation
Quiet Night Thinking/ Contemplation by Li Bai
There is moonlight shining before my bed,
I suspect that there is frost on the ground,
Raising my head, I gaze at the moonlight,
Lowering my head, I think of my home village.
