The circle in the upper left corner shows 28 traditional Chinese constellations (mansions) and four beautiful ladies dancing on the Moon. The legend says that the Emperor, when visiting the Moon heard that charming melody, remembered it and wrote it down when returned back to the Earth. That's how "Rainbow Skirts, Feather Coats" famous melody came to be.
In the lower left corner there's a signature of the studio/artist, most probably in Tianjin, that reads "Qianlong".
The painting is framed and glassed. The paper it is painted on is extremely thin, just like papyrus. I de-framed it in order to take quality pictures without reflections. It ships as is - framed and glassed. If you need pictures of this painting in the frame, please request, I'll send them to you. Also, if you prefer it to be shipped de-framed as a scroll - I can do that as well, please request.
Thank you for your interest!
