1879 Doorbell And Lever

This is a lever type iron doorbell in great working condition.
The lever is mounted slightly offset to the centerline of the bell. The bell should fit a door up to 2" thick. Like most iron bells it gives a nice sharp ring .
The 4 1/2" diameter iron bell is in very nice original condition. The nickel plating on the bell cover is exceptional. The lever is made of brass/bronze and the back plate measures about 3" by 4 1/2'.
There are no markings on the bell other than the 1879 patent date.
Often the levers and bells were sold separately, so like on this bell, you may not find the same pattern on both pieces.  There are so many different symbols on these two pieces that it is hard to tell. I only mention this because some people expect both pieces to match.
